Liturgical Ministries

Are you looking to try something new? Please prayerfully consider serving in one of our many ministries. If you feel God might be calling you to one of these ministries, please contact the parish office at Receptionist@SMSRCatholic.com, OR reach out to anyone currently serving in these ministries. They will be happy to direct you! A continued thanks to all who currently serve.

Lector
Proclaim the Word of God during Mass!  A lector spreads the Good News and gives witness to the central role of God’s Word in the life of the Church.

Usher
Ushers provide a very special service of hospitality as their liturgical ministry. They are the first people to greet and welcome those who come to participate in the Celebration of the Eucharist. In addition to this important duty, they are also responsible for directing the Eucharistic procession during Mass, taking the offering, as well as distributing the parish bulletins and other materials after Mass.

Eucharistic Minister
Assist our Priests in distributing the Body of Christ to parishioners during Mass!

Alter Server
Altar serving is an important ministry of both prayer and service. Altar servers assist the Priest at the altar and in other ways during Mass and other liturgical celebrations. Training is provided.

Accompanist
Offer your skill and talent as a musician to help parishioners engage more deeply with the Mass!

Cantor
Make a joyful noise unto the Lord! Lead the congregation in responses to help them more fully enter the worship of the Mass.

Choir Member
Be part of the St. Mary’s choir for special occasions like Christmas, Lent, Easter and more!

Sacristan
Help prepare for the celebration of Mass, as well as set up for other liturgical celebrations. Training and written instructions are provided.

Livestream
This important ministry brings the celebration of the Mass into the homes of those who are not able to attend in person. If you have an interest in video production and technology, this ministry may be for you! Training is provided.

Plants and Decorating
Keep the Sanctuary and Altar beautiful and reflecting the seasons of the Church.
