Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
My name is David Nowicki. I am a seminarian for the Diocese of La Crosse. I am currently attending Mundelein Seminary in Illinois and have just finished my first year of Pre-Theology. I have five more years of classes to go before, God willing, I am ordained a priest. I am from St. Anthony Parish in Athens, Wisconsin, a rural parish community just west of Wausau. The parish includes a Pre-K through eighth grade school, which I attended from first grade onward. Following St. Anthony, I attended Athens High School. Since I enjoyed math and science classes most, I decided to attend UW-Platteville for a degree in civil engineering.
During my time in college, I first felt the call of God to the priesthood in a few ways. First, I was the chaplain for a summer camp near Lake Crosse during the summer, which enabled me to explore the faith more deeply. Second, I got the experience of a fantastic Newman community at UW-Platteville. Many friends of mine from the Newman parish would enter seminary for their respective dioceses, further encouraging me to consider a call to the priesthood. Lastly but most importantly, I encountered God profoundly during adoration at a Catholic young adult conference. All of these experiences instilled not only the call from God, but a desire from within myself to enter seminary as well. I graduated from UW-Platteville in May of 2017 and was accepted as a seminarian by the Diocese to attend Mundelein Seminary around the same time.
In my leisure time, I enjoy running, reading, and playing music. My hope is that I can share the joy of these activities and of Christ with parishioners at St. Mary and St. Raymond this summer! Praise God, who is the same yesterday, today, and forevermore! My name is David Nowicki, a seminarian of this great Diocese, and I am excited to be a part of the parishes of St. Mary and St. Raymond during the months of June and July!
